Thousands gathered in central Barcelona on Sunday to protest against the potential expansion of El Prat airport. Starting at 12:00 PM on Passeig de Gràcia, the march featured ten columns from the city and nine from metropolitan areas under the slogan 'No to the expansion, not now or ever'.
The demonstration drew support from over 200 entities, including ERC, BComú, and the CUP. Notable attendees included Gerardo Pisarello and El Prat Mayor Alba Bou, who noted Girona airport is at 30% capacity. A column of cyclists and tractors joined from Plaza de Espanya to voice their opposition.
While the Spanish Council of Ministers approved the DORA III plan for 2027-2031, investing 1,760 million euros, it only includes preparatory actions rather than the expansion itself. Representatives from the Zeroport platform led the march as it moved toward Plaza Sant Jaume to demand a halt.
