Carlos Mazón, former president of the Generalitat Valenciana, has appeared for a second time before a congressional commission investigating the October 2024 dana. The disaster caused 232 deaths, primarily in Valencia, leading to intense scrutiny of his role.
Mazón submitted a statement to the Catarroja judge denying he blocked Es-Alert transmissions. He claims no causal link exists between his actions and 42 deaths. Despite the TSJV discarding his responsibility, he faces a Supreme Court perjury investigation.
During the hearing, Mazón refused to answer questions from ERC's Gabriel Rufián on behalf of victims' families. He defended his conduct, noting he met with SOS Desaparecidos, while deputies from Sumar, PSOE, and Vox questioned his lunch with a journalist.
